Effective Measure ensures a one category approach.
We use categories to group similar content together regardless of the function of the website. (i.e. online retail, information, entertainment). Therefore websites need to be reported together whether they are an e-commerce site, a news based content site or a mix of each.
By default, a site will be categorised by best fit, in the absence of publisher feedback. Traffic for a brand and site can only be counted once in a category for ranking purposes.
What if I don’t agree with a categorisation, how can categorisation issues be resolved?
Due to the nature of online publishing, where a publication could easily belong to multiple categories, categorisation placement may need to be altered.
A decision about site categorisation can be challenged by notifying support via firstname.lastname@example.org. Our team will review your request and assess the global historical representation/reporting of your website and the categorisation of competitive/comparative websites.
Alternatively, you can choose to segment key sections of your site into other categories. For example, an automotive section of portals website may be tracked within the ‘Automotive’ category.
Arts and Entertainment: Sites that specifically focus on the recreation, entertainment industries and the arts.
Automotive: Sites that contain news and information, specifically relating to automobiles and/or motorcycles.
Broadcast Media: Sites that augment content produced by Broadcast Media owners (Print, Radio, TV etc).
Business: Sites that focus on business industry and vertical business publications. These sites contain news and information covering related products, services, and/or events.
Careers: Sites that specifically focus on career development and/or career resources.
Classifieds: Sites that provide information, products, and/or services for users to buy, sell, or place items for bidding or sites that specifically focus on selling merchandise, shopping guides and directories, classifieds and auctions, coupons and rewards, free merchandise and virtual department stores.
Education: Sites that provide an online resource for educational content such as encyclopaedias and wikis.
Family & Parenting: Sites that contain lifestyle related information in relation to the care of babies or parenting.
Food & Drink: Sites that contain instructional information related to cooking, food preparation, ingredients, restaurants including restaurant reviews and general food information.
Health & Fitness: Sites that contain content around fitness including getting and keeping being fit in addition to general health based content.
Hobbies & Interests: Sites that contain content on specific hobbies or interests such as collectibles, astronomy, history and more.
Home & Garden: Sites that contain information or content that relates to building or improving a home, dwelling or garden.
Homepages: A category specifically designated for the homepage traffic and audience profile of selected publications.
Law, Gov't & Politics: Sites that provide professional or consumer generated content around elements of the Law, Govt & Politics.
Mobile: Sites that provide entertainment content in a primarily mobile-based environment.
News: Sites that offer broad/multi-category daily information services. Incorporates general news, sport news, weather, business and finance news, IT news, and entertainment news under the same brand. Specific news sub-sections can be reported in relevant categories.
Personal Finance: Sites that provide information around various personal finance products whether from advisors, vendors or aggregators. These sites contain news and information covering financial related products, services, and/or events.
Pets: Sites that offer broad category based information about caring for, and purchasing a pet of some description.
Portals: Sites that provide a single point of access for multiple types of content.
Real Estate: Sites that provide information, products and/or services relating to the purchase or rent of a property such as a house or apartment.
Religion: Sites that provide a range of content regarding one or more religions or belief systems.
Science: Sites that contain content that is specific to the field of science.
Search Engine: Sites that provide a mechanism for users to search for any content via text or audio input only. A search engine does not publish or produce content of its own.

Style & Fashion: Sites that contain multiple category lifestyle information around clothing, fashion and style
Technology & Computing: Sites that specifically focus on telecommunications in relation to telephony (fixed and mobile), and Internet portals providing information, products, and/or client services.
Travel: Sites that specifically focus on travel and accommodation in relation to tourism, leisure/recreation and business. This category includes airlines, travel destinations, theme parks and event centres, hotels and rental cars.
Youth: Sites that contain multiple category lifestyle content targeting a youth audience.
Video: Sites that provide content in a primarily video-based environment – such as YouTube, Vimeo etc.
